What will a survey cost?

Most survey work is billed at an hourly rate because there are many variable which affect the cost of a survey.  Some variables are:

  • Type of survey required
  • Existing conditions and features
  • Legal description of the property
  • Available record information
  • Existing monumentation
  • Experience and knowledge of the area

Because of those varying conditions and requirements, it may be difficult to determine up front the exact amount of time necessary to complete a survey. However, based on general experience, the surveyor can usually furnish a realistic estimate prior to beginning work on a project.

It is important to remember that the cheapest price is not always in the best interest of the client or the Land Surveyor.  An accurately prepared survey will be one of the least expensive parts of your total property investment price.
